About University College
University College has been providing a welcoming, caring and inclusive residential learning environment for university students for almost three quarters of a century.
Founded in 1937, the college was originally named University Women's College. Since 1976, however, University College has been co-residential and now provides accommodation for 200 undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled at the University of Melbourne and other nearby tertiary institutions.
University College's undergraduate student body includes predominantly rural and interstate students, as well as approximately 25% international students. Graduates and postgraduates are from around Australia and all over the world.
University College is a friendly, vibrant and diverse community, where firm, lasting friendships are made between residents from across the academic spectrum, and from all backgrounds and walks of life.
