Visiting Academics

University College has fourteen modern self contained apartments that are available for academics and researchers who are visiting the University of Melbourne and nearby research facilities.

The Apartments provide high quality, short or medium term accommodation.  They are  fully furnished  and cleaned weekly and all meals are included in the rental. Apartment residents at University College therefore have the seclusion of a separate building with private access as well as participating in the community life of the College.

Apartments have a bedroom, a study area, living room (with television, Internet access and telephone), a kitchen or kitchenette and a private bathroom There are laundry facilities within each apartment building. Some apartments have a separate study or second bedroom.

Visiting Academics automatically become members of the Senior Common Room - a friendly and informal group of graduate residents and associates. Pre-dinner drinks and after dinner drinks are served there during the academic year on High Table nights for all members who wish to attend.

While staying at the College, residents can participate in the Academic Program for students by giving informal seminars in their research areas, by hosting Round Table Dinners in the Dining Room and Seminars for small student groups and by mingling with other Academic Visitors and residents in the Common Room. University College facilities available to Visiting Academics include the library, computer room, music rooms and tennis court.
