Welcome from Head of College
Since 1937, generations of students have been proud to be part of our welcoming, inclusive and vibrant University College community. The College motto ‘Frappe Fort' translates literally as ‘Hit hard', but the founding college Council preferred to interpret it as ‘What you do, do with a will' - this remains a key message for our students today.
At University College we are dedicated to providing opportunities and support for our students to assist them in negotiating their way successfully in a rapidly changing, complex world. We equip our students to become fully contributing members of society in whatever their chosen profession.
Our college has impressive facilities and resources and a wonderful range of academic and co-curricular programs. However, we know that our greatest strength is the individual care and support we provide for our students. We enjoy a diverse membership of undergraduates and graduates who develop a strong sense of belonging and individual responsibility within a caring and close-knit community.
The college's academic and tutorial program provides shared and personal learning experiences which support the individual development of students and challenges them to acquire the skills, knowledge, and values to confidently shape their future. We want our students to contribute meaningfully to the global community.
I invite you to explore our website, which gives a taste of what University College can offer you and showcases many of our facilities. You will find a richly rewarding campus experience awaits you with sport, drama, music and social activities, as well as opportunities for leadership development. Most importantly, you will have the chance to make enduring friendships and enjoy one of the best times of your life.
I look forward to welcoming you to University College.
