Sous Chef

Reporting ultimately to the Executive Chef, the Sous Chef is responsible for high quality food service provision along with smooth running of the kitchen, ensuring duties are performed in a manner that complies with Food Safety regulations. Our dedicated eight person kitchen brigade delivers catering 7 days per week for 300+ tertiary students and staff at breakfast, lunch and dinner. In addition, high level catering is provided to clients at a range of corporate functions, conferences and events held at the College.

This busy, hands on role will provide you the opportunity to:

  • Draw on minimum 2 years Sous Chef experience gained in a banqueting/catering background
  • Apply your excellent culinary skills to deliver a high quality product encompassing dietary/cultural requirements
  • Utilise proven leadership, confidence and well developed verbal communication skills to challenge the team to continually improve
  • Oversee general kitchen management and step up as Head Chef when needed
  • Demonstrate your initiative, organisational and interpersonal skills along with respectful behaviour

This full time position is based on 7.5 hour day, 5 days per week across 7 days, with flexibility to work weekends as required. Salary is in line with experience, and Certificate III Australian culinary qualification is required.

Resident Tutors

University College is currently seeking resident tutors who have completed their Bachelor’s degree to support the College’s mission of enabling students to have an enriching and transformative residential college experience.

The resident tutors are expected to have a visible presence around the College and be outstanding role models for the young adult residents. Resident tutors provide pastoral care and academic support to our student body and act as mentors for up to 20 first year students. The role also involves after-hours and weekend ‘duty shift’ responsibilities. Please see the UC Residential Tutor Position Description 2020 for more information.
