How have you found living at UC?
I hadn’t really heard much about UC before coming here so I didn’t have any concrete expectations. Having said this, the community spirit and support that I have experienced this year still regularly blows my socks off. I can confidently say I’ve already made lifelong friends.

What academic advantages are provided at UC?
The academic support provided by college is undoubtedly one of its best assets. The tutors are there to ensure the transition from high-school to university standards is as easy as possible. University tutorials can be really intimidating, so having a safe-space at UC to voice my specific academic concerns is really important to me.

What are the social benefits of living at UC?
Attending University can be very lonely and isolating. One of the most heart-warming things about being part of a college is running into fellow students whilst out and about. You are guaranteed a smile, wave or even a hug. We look out for each other night and day.

One thing I didn’t expect to experience at college is..?
Unlimited access to coffee and toast.

Have you undertaken any leadership roles at UC?
I was somehow bestowed with the honour of being the 2019 UC Student Club President. I wonder how long it will take for them to notice that I have no idea what I’m doing?

How has UC helped you transition to living in Melbourne?
UC made moving from ‘God’s Country’ (Canberra) to the ‘Big Smoke’ (Melbourne) easy as pie. Moving out of home is a HUGE deal, but UC welcomed me with open arms. The older students provided lifesaving tips about university, public transport and where you can find the best coffee on campus. It’s at the House of Cards cafe, by the way.

What is your favourite UC event and why?
UC Ball is always a highlight of everyone’s year. It’s a great opportunity to dress up, take some fancy Instagram photos and meet past UC legends.

If you could sum up your UC experience in one word, what would it be?

Student Life in Australia
