How have you found living at UC?
One of the best choices I’ve made was coming to UC. Although I was nervous about moving away for uni, the community and people I have met here have really made it home for me.

What academic advantages are provided at UC?
UC tutorials have really given me the extra helping hand I needed when transitioning into university. The jump from school to uni style learning was really difficult for me, so the weekly tutorials and academic assistance I received was really important. While we’re still encouraged to learn independently, there’s always someone there to give you that help its often hard to find at university.

What are the social benefits of living at UC?
Moving to a new city is always daunting, but the community at UC means that you will soon know the hundreds of other students you’re living with. This makes such a difference, and is what makes it feel like home. There are so many events throughout the year that everyone gets involved in, which means you make so many special friendships and memories.

One thing I didn’t expect to experience at college is..?
I didn’t expect to feel so comfortable so quickly. In an environment like UC you make a lot of friends very quickly. Meeting 250 new people was a lot less scary than what I had expected!

Have you undertaken any leadership roles at UC?
I was one of the Social Secretaries for UC this year, which involved organising and facilitating all the social events that UC holds. I loved being able to get involved and take on a leadership position.  It was an experience that taught me a lot.

How has UC helped you transition to living in Melbourne?
Moving to a new city was an incredibly daunting concept for me, but the way UC creates a home away from home made it an easy transition. The community here is unlike any other. I was amazed by the inclusive nature of everyone, not just during O-Week but throughout my whole time here. Being at this college has allowed me to learn about living away from home and independence, whilst also offering me the support needed in this transition.

What is your favourite UC event and why?
I personally loved UC Day (which is like the student ‘muck up day’). I loved organising it and getting to watch everyone come together and celebrate UC. It’s a really great day!

If you could sum up your UC experience in one word, what would it be?
Supportive
