Resident Tutors 

University College is seeking to appoint eight Resident Tutors who have completed their bachelor’s degree in either arts, law, nursing, commerce, education, science, biomedicine, architecture, building and planning, design, media and communication, health sciences, engineering, fashion and textiles, property or design.

The Resident Tutors will be appointed to start in February 2024 to provide academic support to our student body. A Resident Tutor is expected to organise weekly subject-based tutorials and will be an academic mentor for around 30 first-year students. The Resident Tutor will be committed to supporting student wellbeing and ensuring that the support is in line with the College’s processes. They will also undertake after-hours and weekend ‘duty shift’ responsibilities in collaboration with our Youth Workers.

A willingness to be engaged in the University College community, and to provide academic support is of paramount importance in considering suitability for this position. Each Resident Tutor is to have a visible presence in the College and be an outstanding role model for the student body. Resident Tutors are also expected to host guests and visitors at College events. 

Resident Tutors pay rent for accommodation (a self-contained two-room unit). The rent payment includes all meals and utilities, internet and use of the gym. In addition to earning an income from tutoring, mentoring and duty shifts. Resident Tutors also receive a monthly general duties allowance (this covers Fire Warden responsibilities and having a visible presence in College).
