Student Services Officer

Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Student Services Officer is a key member of our cohesive, collaborative team. A core aspect of this role is to work closely with the Registrar and provide assistance across the full admissions process particularly during the busy peak periods. The Student Services Officer also provides valuable administrative support to a range of functional areas in the College.  

Being a varied role, day-to-day functions include liaising with students and parents, maintaining student records, application and admission documents, coordinating student interviews and activities, assisting with student events and functions, along with a broad range of administrative support.

This position is perfect for an outgoing, self-motivated person with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who enjoys working collaboratively across teams. You will be able to draw on your administration experience and familiarity with database systems, ideally gained within the educational or residential services sector. Key to this role is being able to think on your feet and multi-task whilst also maintaining a high attention to detail.

Commis Chef – Permanent F/T

Reporting ultimately to the Executive Chef, you will be responsible for high quality food service provision. We cater for 320 tertiary students and staff at breakfast, lunch and dinner, in addition to high level catering for corporate functions and conferences.

This position is based on a 7.5hr day, 5 days per week across 7 days on a rotating roster, including some evening shifts (typically finishing around 6pm) and some weekend work as required. University College (UC) is a leading residential College where tertiary students live in a friendly, relaxed and supportive community environment.  Students attend the University of Melbourne and other nearby Universities. Located in Parkville with impressive modern facilities, the College provides full catering in the Dining Hall to approx 350 students and staff at breakfast, lunch and dinner on a daily basis, along with catering for a growing number of corporate guests at conferences, functions and events.

As Demi Chef, you will be responsible for high quality food service provision and have the opportunity to:

  • Demonstrate your chef experience ideally gained in a banqueting/function background
  • Apply your excellent cooking skills including knowledge of dietary/cultural requirements
  • Use your initiative and creativity, versatility and organisation skills
  • Draw on your strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Progress your career through the 8 person kitchen Brigade

This position is based on a 7.5hr shift, 5 days per week across 7 days on a rotating roster, including some evening shifts (usually finish around 7.30pm) and some weekend work as required. Salary is in line with experience and minimum Certificate of Proficiency in Cooking is required.
