University College (UC) is a leading residential College located in Parkville providing academic and wellbeing support for its students in a friendly, relaxed and supportive community. Its undergraduate and graduate students are enrolled at the University of Melbourne and other nearby tertiary institutions.

Reporting ultimately to the Executive Chef, you will be responsible for high quality food service provision. We cater for 320 tertiary students and staff at breakfast, lunch and dinner, in addition to high level catering for corporate functions and conferences.

With a passion for excellence in food preparation, you will utilise your:

  • Well developed cooking skills
  • Certificate III Commercial Cookery / min yr 1 apprentice training

These full time positions are based on a 7.5hr day, 5 days per week across 7 days on a rotating roster, with flexibility to work weekends as required. Time off is included for apprentices to complete study requirements.  Salary is in line with experience and University College provide excellent employee benefits including Wellbeing support through our EAP partner, meals when onsite and car parking (when available).

Its undergraduate and graduate students are enrolled at the University of Melbourne and other nearby tertiary institutions. The College provides full catering in the Dining Hall to approx 350 tertiary students, staff and guests at breakfast, lunch and dinner on a daily basis. 

Reporting to the Executive Chef and under the direction of the Dining Hall & Conference Supervisor, this position is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the Dining Hall.

This active and varied role offers you the opportunity to:

Food Services Supervisor

Its undergraduate and graduate students are enrolled at the University of Melbourne and other nearby tertiary institutions. The College also has multi-function hospitality facilities actively utilised to host a growing number of conferences, functions and events throughout the year.

The Food Services Supervisor is an exciting new position reporting directly to the Executive Chef, responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient food service operation of the Dining Hall and College function facilities. You will plan, coordinate and supervise the delivery of a high standard of food service and customer service excellence to our tertiary students and staff on a daily basis along with corporate clients at a wide range of functions and events.

This dynamic and varied role gives you the opportunity to:

  • Draw on your solid hospitality experience gained in hotel management, events or similar
  • Train, supervise and coordinate activities of the food service team
  • Liaise with stakeholders to establish and plan for upcoming catering requirements
  • Ensure function set-up and service delivery meet consistency in quality standards
  • Maintain food service and event equipment maintenance and storage
  • Enjoy demonstrating your exceptional customer service, strong organisation and time management skill

The position is based on a 5 day, 37.5hr week on a flexible roster, and we are also able to accommodate min  25hr p wk on a part time basis. The role will include some evening and weekend work to accommodate varying function schedules. Salary is in line with experience, meals when working are provided along with car parking. You will need your Food Safety Certificate, Food Handlers Certificate and RSA Certificate. A recognised qualification from University or TAFE is preferred but not essential.
