2007 Alumni Reunion

Head of College, Dr Jennifer McDonald hosted College alumni from 2007 at a small gathering in the College's Senior Common Room on Friday 7 July, 2017.

All in attendance spoke fondly of their time at the College, particularly the close bonds that were formed almost instantaneously, many of which still exist today. Indeed, 2007 alumni Michael Weel and Alexa Kuzyk, who attended Friday nights event, met at the College and are now engaged to be married in 2018 with several 2007 UC alumni involved in the wedding party.

Many alumni spoke of the College's community reputation as a key factor in choosing UC. Some chose not to attend the college's their parents did in order to write their own story at a place they felt much more at home. Family precedence also loomed large in the thinking of 2007 alumni and past student club executive member Oliver Hare;

"My brother was a year older than me and attended UC so I was determined to make my mark at one of the other colleges. However, once I visited University College I had no doubt that this was the place for me." - Oliver Hare (UC 2007)

As part of the 80th anniversary celebrations this year, University College is embarking on a broad engagement program including domestic and international activities.

With over 5,600 alumni living in over 45 countries, the University College community is indeed a global community.

Dr McDonald will be hosting alumni reunions in Canberra on Wednesday 19 July, Perth on Monday 31 July and Brisbane on Wednesday 9 August. If you have recently moved and would like to ensure you receive the most up to date invitations, please update your contact details.
