2017 Chancellor's Lunch
2017 Chancellor's Lunch
President of Council, Jane Peck and Head of College, Dr Jennifer McDonald welcomed Chancellor of the University of Melbourne, Mr Allan Myers AC QC to College for lunch on Wednesday 13 December.
After taking a brief tour of the new facilities at College, the Chancellor met with alumni from all decades of the College's history, as well as student leaders, resident tutors and staff.
Guests introduced themselves and shared various memories of their time at College, which ranged from memories of academic challenges and achievements to sporting triumphs to landmark moments in history experienced while at College.
The memories that resonated most powerfully, however, continue to be the life-long friendships formed and the support received from the College community. These are aspects of the College experience that cannot be replicated anywhere else.
“Having been a resident at one college here in Australia and another in the United Kingdom, I can say that there are two defining benefits of the university college experience: community and support. With so many students now attending the University of Melbourne who are living far away from home and family, belonging to a community of peers and a supportive environment is of the utmost importance to their university experience.”
- Mr Allan Myers AC QC (Chancellor, The University of Melbourne)
